What is APA 7th edition?
APA (American Psychological Association) style is the dominant citation format in psychology, education, sociology, and most of the social and behavioral sciences. APA 7th edition, released in 2019, is the current standard and differs from the 6th edition in several places, including the omission of publisher locations for books and a new rule to list up to 20 authors before using an ellipsis.
Who uses APA?
APA is the required style at most US graduate programs in psychology, education, communication, and nursing. It is also widely used in economics, business, and many interdisciplinary journals. If your discipline asks for "author–date" style and you're in the social sciences, you almost certainly mean APA.

APA citation questions
How do I cite a paper with more than 20 authors in APA?
In APA 7th, list the first 19 authors, insert an ellipsis (…), and add the final author. This generator handles up to several dozen authors automatically.
Does APA 7th require publisher location for books?
No. The 7th edition dropped the requirement to list publisher location for books, just the publisher name is needed.
What's the difference between APA and Harvard?
They look similar, both use author–date, but APA has strict rules on title case, italics for journal titles, and DOI formatting. Harvard varies by institution.
Can I use this for in-text citations?
Use the reference output for your bibliography. For in-text, APA uses (Author, Year) for paraphrases and (Author, Year, p. X) for direct quotes.
