About the IEEE Conference Template
The IEEE conference template is one of the most widely used academic paper formats in engineering and computer science. Based on the IEEEtran document class, this template is required by hundreds of IEEE-sponsored conferences including ICASSP, ICRA, IROS, ICC, GLOBECOM, and many others.
The template produces a two-column layout on US Letter paper with IEEE's signature formatting. The current IEEEtran.cls version is maintained by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. It includes guidance text that must be removed before submission.
IEEE provides the template through their official publishing templates page. Page limits vary by conference but are typically 4-8 pages. IEEE also provides the BibTeX style file IEEEtran.bst for consistent bibliography formatting across all IEEE publications.
The next major IEEEtran deadline: ICASSP 2027 papers are due September 16, 2026, with acceptance notifications on January 13, 2027 and final papers due January 27, 2027. The conference runs May 16–21, 2027 in Toronto, Canada.
